Vision for Finnish comprehensive schools 2045 has been published

An advisory board appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture has formulated a vision for comprehensive schools in collaboration with thousands of Finnish teachers, students, researchers, experts, and citizens.

Senior researcher Katri Saarikivi, chair of the advisory board that prepared the vision for finnish comprehensive schools, handed over the vision to Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz at the House of the Estates in Helsinki on February 11, 2026.

The vision, which looks ahead to 2045, serves as a starting point for discussion and the development of education. Among others, EDUCA Flagship PI, professor Marja-Kristiina Lerkkanen and co-PI, professor Minna Huotilainen have been involved in the advisory board preparing the vision.

The aim in the vision is that schoolchildren learn to learn, act democratically and build hope in a world of uncertainty.
