EDUCA-Doc doctoral researchers started their doctoral training at the University of Jyväskylä

The University of Jyväskylä is starting ten field-specific doctoral education pilot projects in an extension of the doctoral training for 2024–2027, funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The EDUCA-Doc doctoral researchers in education and psychology at Jyväskylä started their three-year work at the beginning of August.

The EDUCA-Doc Doctoral Education Pilot, led by the University of Jyväskylä, has a total of 78 doctoral researcher positions at universities across Finland, of which 22 are at the University of Jyväskylä. Doctoral students will receive funding, support and guidance for their doctoral work for three years, during which time they will be expected to complete a doctoral degree.

The doctoral students starting their doctoral studies in Jyväskylä met on 5 August for a joint launch. During the day, the research topics were presented and the supervisors and the rest of the network got together. The EDUCA-Doc Doctoral Education Pilot's research areas are teaching, learning and future learning environments.

The EDUCA-Doc Doctoral Education Pilot is an important part of the EDUCA Flagship, whose mission is to generate new knowledge and understanding about the future of education in Finnish society.

The EDUCA-Doc Doctoral Education Pilot aims to increase the number of top performers, i.e. doctoral graduates, in Finland and to create new practices that will streamline doctoral education and reduce graduation times. A key objective is also to support the employment of doctoral graduates both in the public and private sector.

All 78 EDUCA-Doc doctoral researchers from across Finland will meet on 12-13 September for a joint launch seminar at the University of Helsinki.
